Eastern Hemlock

Eastern Hemlock is known as “the softwood that acts like a hardwood”. For those looking for a harder, stronger and more cost effective alternative to Eastern White Pine, Eastern Hemlock is a great choice. Its weight and structural strength makes it a favorite for beams and posts. Other common uses include floor joists, barn and shed siding, decking, and raised bed gardens. Eastern Hemlock does have a tendency to peel and split as it dries, which while not compromising its strength, can be visually unappealing. If you are concerned about the appearance Hemlock, consider using Eastern White Pine instead.

For your convenience our hemlock is sold as green lumber only. As hemlock dries it becomes hard, making it near impossible to hammer a nail into.[divider]
